About Warwick Phoenix G&S
Warwick Phoenix Gilbert and Sullivan Society was formed on April 7th 2002. We are a group of former students at the University of Warwick, who were involved with the student Gilbert and Sullivan Society (formed in 1982, and renamed Music Theatre Warwick in 1999) during our time there. The members have been drawn across the history of the society.
Our first production, "The Gondoliers" was performed to great acclaim on Sunday 30th March 2003, having been rehearsed in just 48 hours. It was recently followed by a concert performance of "The Pirates of Penzance", given in St. Paul's Church in Leamington Spa.
Future plans include a full-scale musical in 2005, possibly in August. This might involve one week of intensive rehearsals, followed by one week of performances, though we are reviewing options and will be in contact with previous correspondents in the near future. We will be seeking sponsorship and support for this production. We expect auditions to be held in early 2005. More details of the show, with dates, will follow. Everyone who has been involved in a UWG&S or MTW show before is welcome to take part.
