About Warwick Phoenix
Warwick Phoenix is a collection of societies formed by ex-students at the University of Warwick. The societies have been formed over a number of years from people involved in their student equivalents at the University of Warwick Music Centre. Previous one-off gatherings have included a Phoenix Orchestra, Chorus, Wind Orchestra and Big Band. Two groups are currently active, Warwick Phoenix Singers and Warwick Phoenix Gilbert And Sullivan Society.

Warwick Phoenix Singers recently accompanied Dame Kiri Te Kanawa in a Christmas Gala Concert at the Warwick Arts Centre, in front of a sell-out crowd of 1500 people. The successful concert rounded off a busy 2003. In August they played an active part in the Association of British Choral Directors (ABCD) 2003 conference, singing new compositions for a composer's forum, and taking part in a 470-strong chorus for the finale of the gala concert. In September they performed the Mozart Requiem in St. Mark's church in Leamington Spa with organist Colin Druce, and in Chelmsford Cathedral with the Essex Chamber Orchestra, the latter receiving a standing ovation. Previously they have sung in various towns across Britian, including a charity concert in Leamington Spa in 2002. They also took part in the Sainsbury's choir of the year competition in 2002.
You can hear the recordings of the Warwick Phoenix Singers in competition in Manchester on 5th May 2002.
Warwick Phoenix G & S Society
Formed in 2001, with their first production in 2002 of The Gondoliers, the G&S society aims to put on musical theatre and operetta shows on a regular basis. A successful concert performance of The Pirates of Penzance has just been completed at St. Paul's Church in Leamington Spa. Future plans include a full-scale musical in 2005.
Details of the Warwick Phoenix Gilbert and Sullivan Society's productions of The Gondoliers and The Pirates of Penzance are still available.
